Chippenham constituency is centred on the Wiltshire market town of Chippenham and extends south and west through Corsham, Melksham and surrounding villages. The seat contains several distinct towns rather than one continuous urban area, with farmland and smaller settlements separating them. Chippenham is the largest centre and sits on the River Avon and the main rail corridor between Bristol and Swindon. Corsham provides another historic town to the west, while Melksham lies farther south. Beyond these centres, the constituency includes villages and open countryside characteristic of north-west Wiltshire. Its geography therefore combines growing market towns, commuter settlements and a substantial rural hinterland.
