Burnley constituency is centred on the Lancashire town of Burnley and also includes Brierfield and Reedley immediately to the north in Pendle. Most of the seat is urban, with densely built neighbourhoods around Burnley town centre extending outward through areas such as Briercliffe, Brunshaw, Rosegrove and Ightenhill. Toward Cliviger, Worsthorne and the eastern edge, settlement becomes more dispersed and the landscape rises into the Pennine hills and moorland. Brierfield and Reedley add another continuous urban area along the valley to the north. The constituency therefore combines a compact former industrial town with smaller neighbouring communities and a significant upland rural fringe.
