Local context
Bridlington and The Wolds stretches from the North Sea coast inland across the Yorkshire Wolds. Bridlington is the largest town and occupies the coastal eastern side of the constituency, while Driffield provides the principal inland market-town centre. The seat also includes villages and smaller communities across North Holderness, the East Wolds and parts of the Wolds Weighton area. Outside Bridlington, settlement is widely dispersed through agricultural countryside and rolling chalk uplands. The constituency therefore has a strong contrast between a sizeable seaside town, smaller market centres and a large rural hinterland. Its eastern edge is coastal, while the western side rises into the open landscape of the Yorkshire Wolds.
