Bradford West includes the city centre and a broad area to its west and north-west. Its wards are City, Manningham, Heaton, Toller, Clayton and Fairweather Green, and Thornton and Allerton. The constituency contains some of Bradford’s densest inner-city neighbourhoods around Manningham and the centre, then rises westward through Heaton, Toller and Allerton toward Clayton and Thornton. This produces a marked physical transition from compact urban streets and commercial areas to lower-density hillside communities at the outer edge. Bradford city centre is the principal focus, but the western wards contain their own local centres and are separated in places by steep terrain, parks and open land.

About this award
This project will support 230 women and girls aged 12+ from low income communities in Bradford to be active, including from South Asian and other culturally diverse communities. This will be achieved through the delivery of culturally appropriate multisport sessions, which will be delivered twice-weekly by female coaches for 48 weeks. Activities will include: netball, dodgeball, walking, 'yoga-cise', cricket and fitness sessions. Monthly confidence-building and wellbeing workshops will complement the weekly sessions. Funding will support coaching, facility hire, volunteer training, confidence and wellbeing workshop, transport and equipment costs.
