Bolsover is a north-east Derbyshire constituency made up of a network of former mining towns, villages and rural communities. It includes Bolsover, Shirebrook, Clowne, Creswell, South Normanton, Pinxton, Tibshelf and Whitwell, as well as several communities in neighbouring North East Derbyshire such as Pilsley, Morton and Shirland. The seat does not have one overwhelmingly dominant urban centre; instead, population is spread across a series of small and medium-sized settlements. Former industrial land, farmland and open countryside separate many of them. Bolsover Castle and the town of Bolsover provide one of the area’s most recognisable focal points, while the eastern side approaches the Nottinghamshire boundary.
