Blackpool North and Fleetwood follows the Fylde coast from northern Blackpool through Cleveleys and Thornton to Fleetwood. The Blackpool part includes Anchorsholme, Bispham, Norbreck and neighbouring northern suburbs, while the Wyre section takes in Cleveleys, Carleton, Thornton and Fleetwood. The constituency is predominantly urban and suburban but has a strong coastal identity, with the Irish Sea forming its western edge for much of its length. Fleetwood provides a distinct town centre at the northern end, while Cleveleys and the northern Blackpool neighbourhoods form a largely continuous built-up corridor farther south. Smaller areas of open land remain around the eastern edge of Thornton and Carleton.
