Birmingham Northfield covers the south-western edge of Birmingham around Northfield, Longbridge, King’s Norton, Frankley, Rednal and Rubery. The constituency also includes Allens Cross and part of the Weoley and Selly Oak area. It is predominantly urban and suburban, but its outer edge meets more open land toward the Worcestershire boundary. Longbridge is one of the seat’s largest identifiable centres, while Northfield and King’s Norton provide established local shopping and residential areas. The constituency therefore runs from mature suburban neighbourhoods through large post-war housing areas to lower-density communities on Birmingham’s southern fringe, rather than extending into the city centre.
