Basingstoke is centred on the town of Basingstoke and contains most of its built-up neighbourhoods, including Brighton Hill, Brookvale and Kings Furlong, Chineham, Eastrop and Grove, Hatch Warren and Beggarwood, Kempshott and Buckskin, Norden, Popley, South Ham and Winklebury and Manydown. The constituency also takes in part of the Oakley and The Candovers ward on the western and south-western edge. It is therefore largely an urban and suburban seat, with the town centre and established residential districts surrounded by newer development areas. Its outer edge becomes more open, giving the constituency a limited rural fringe alongside the much larger continuous Basingstoke urban area.
