Local context
Barrow and Furness covers the Furness peninsula and neighbouring parts of south-west Cumbria. It is centred on Barrow-in-Furness and includes Dalton-in-Furness, Walney Island and the surrounding urban wards, then extends north through Ulverston and into communities around the Duddon estuary, Millom and the southern Lake District edge. Barrow is by far the largest urban centre, while Ulverston and Millom provide smaller town centres for more dispersed rural and coastal communities. The seat has a distinctive maritime geography, with Morecambe Bay, the Irish Sea and the Duddon estuary defining much of its edge. Inland, the landscape becomes increasingly rural and upland toward the Lake District, producing a marked contrast with industrial and residential Barrow.

This project will establish regular open basketball sessions for 15 girls aged 7-9. One hour sessions will be delivered weekly for 40 weeks. Towards the end of the project, the girls will enter tournaments or leagues. Funding will support facility hire, equipment and coaching costs.
