Altrincham and Sale West lies wholly within Trafford and is centred on Altrincham, Sale’s western neighbourhoods and the surrounding south-west Manchester suburbs. The constituency includes Altrincham, Bowdon, Hale, Hale Barns, Timperley, Broadheath, Ashton upon Mersey and the St Mary’s and Village wards. Its built-up areas form part of the wider Greater Manchester conurbation, but the seat also includes lower-density residential districts toward the Cheshire boundary. Altrincham and Sale provide the principal town centres, while the remaining wards are largely suburban communities connected by the A56, local rail and Metrolink routes. The constituency was retained unchanged in the 2023 boundary review apart from alignment with current ward geography.
