Statutory guidance is official guidance issued under powers granted by legislation. Unlike ordinary guidance, it has a legal basis, and those affected may be required to follow it or at least take it properly into account. Statutory guidance does not usually have the same status as legislation itself, but it can still have significant practical effect.
