A Public Bill Committee is a Commons committee appointed to examine a bill in detail after it has passed Second Reading. The committee considers the bill clause by clause and may debate and vote on amendments. Most government bills in the Commons go to a Public Bill Committee, unless they are taken by a Committee of the whole House.
