What this bill is about
This Bill would make changes to the Freedom of Information Act 2000 by omitting section 37 and by treating additional bodies connected with the Crown as “public authorities” under the Act, including the Sovereign, the Royal Family, the Royal Household, the Royal Archives, and the Duchies of Cornwall and Lancaster.
What it would do
- Omit section 37 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
- Provide that the Sovereign and the Royal Family are public authorities for FOI purposes.
- Provide that the Royal Household, Royal Archives and the Duchies of Cornwall and Lancaster are public authorities for FOI purposes.
- Make further connected changes as set out in the Bill’s long title.
