What this bill is about
The Consumer Insurance (Disclosure and Representations) Bill would require a review of how the Consumer Insurance (Disclosure and Representations) Act 2012 works in individual cases. It would also change how information relating to voided motor insurance policies is recorded and retained on the Motor Insurance Database. The bill also sets out provisions for reviewing cases involving inadvertent or voluntarily disclosed misrepresentation, including making provision for correction or removal of records in appropriate circumstances.
What it would do
- Require the Secretary of State to review the effectiveness of the Consumer Insurance (Disclosure and Representations) Act 2012.
- Address recording and retention of information about voided motor insurance policies on the Motor Insurance Database.
- Provide for reviews in cases involving inadvertent or voluntarily disclosed misrepresentation.
- Provide for correction or removal of records in appropriate circumstances.
