What this bill is about

The Gaza (Independent Public Inquiry) Bill (a Private Members’ Bill presentation) would seek to establish an independent public inquiry focused on UK involvement in Israeli military operations in Gaza. It would require the inquiry to consider any UK military, economic or political cooperation with Israel since October 2023, including relevant weapons, surveillance aircraft and Royal Air Force bases. The bill would also provide the inquiry with powers to question Ministers and officials about decisions related to that UK involvement, with further connected purposes.

What it would do

  • Seek to establish an independent public inquiry into UK involvement in Israeli military operations in Gaza.
  • Require the inquiry to consider UK military, economic and political cooperation with Israel since October 2023.
  • Include coverage of matters such as the sale, supply or use of weapons, surveillance aircraft and RAF bases.
  • Give the inquiry power to question Ministers and officials about decisions linked to UK involvement.
